Ultra-Complex Network Science and Smart Systems Laboratory

Fudan-Boya Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Information Processing

Fudan-Zhixiang Joint Laboratory for Information Technology Development

Laboratory Introduction

The laboratory relies on relevant research institutes and enterprises such as the School of Information Science and Engineering of Fudan University, the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and the Shanghai Beidou Smart Application Innovation Research Center. Its main research directions include four aspects: ultra-complex network models and big data analysis, ultra-complex network dynamics and its applications, the cutting-edge interdisciplinary research between ultra-complex network dynamics and machine learning, and AI+ key technologies and demonstrations for smart cities. Focusing on the theoretical and application issues of real-time intelligent service systems for aerospace information, cyber-physical systems (CPS), intelligent Internet of Things (AIoT), and ultra-complex network communication, relying on artificial intelligence, big data mining, and computer graphics and image visualization technologies, research work is carried out in areas such as the correlation between the time-varying nature of space networks and network topology, the evolution and modeling of multi-dimensional and multi-layer complex networks, the fluctuation dynamics of complex CPS systems, the percolation of ultra-complex networks and the security performance of distributed systems, the search and navigation of distributed systems under time-varying conditions, and the development and application of visualization platforms for the physical-logical framework of smart cities. It has undertaken more than 10 major energy projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology and National Natural Science Foundation projects related to large-scale complex networks, and has accumulated rich real cases and research experience in complex network evolution and function analysis, structural optimization strategies and dissemination, and search and routing control strategies. It has successively carried out detailed empirical analysis and modeling research on space networks such as smart transportation networks, aviation networks, and circuit networks, and achieved a series of original results.

The team led by the laboratory director is very active in international exchanges and cooperation. Focusing on "cutting-edge theories and methods of intelligent information processing" and "complex network theory and applications", it has established close academic exchanges and cooperation with the research teams of Professor H. E. Stanley, an academician of the US National Academy of Sciences, Northwestern University in the United States, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of California, Santa Barbara in the United States, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain, the University of Nantes in France, the University of Freiburg in Germany, and the City University of Hong Kong, and has published more than 30 high-level papers.

The laboratory director, Dr. Han Dingding, is a second-level professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Information Science and Engineering of Fudan University. He is a technical expert in the field of network and communication science, the leader of a research group for a key national R & D program, a dual-appointed professor at Pujiang National Laboratory (in the field of artificial intelligence), a member of the "Special Committee on Complex Networks and Complex Systems" of the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, an executive director of the Chinese Association for Interdisciplinary Sciences, the deputy secretary-general of the Special Committee on Complexity Science, a director and member of the Party group of the Shanghai Society for System Simulation, a member of the Youth Science and Technology Innovation Expert Group of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, an external mentor of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and an expert for editing and reviewing "Electronic Information" textbooks for institutions of higher learning by Peking University Press. He was formerly the member of the degree committee of the School of Information Science and Technology at East China Normal University and the director of the Department of Communication Engineering (in charge of teaching), and the discipline leader of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Multidimensional Information Processing. He has successively gone to universities in the UK and the US, such as Boston University in the United States, to engage in research work and as a visiting scholar. He has won honorary titles such as the National Excellent Textbook Award for Electronics and Information, the third prize of the Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award, and the "Advanced Individual" in the "Huawei Cup" China Postgraduate Mathematical Modeling Competition. He has undertaken a number of research projects of the national key R & D program, major projects, key projects, and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and has accumulated rich real cases and research experience in complex network evolution and function analysis, structural optimization strategies and dissemination, and search and routing control strategies. He has successively carried out detailed empirical analysis and modeling research on space networks such as smart transportation networks, aviation networks, and circuit networks, and achieved a series of innovative results. He has published more than 100 papers in international authoritative journals such as IEEE/ACM Trans., PLoS ONE, New J. Phys., Phys. Rev. E, Sci. Rep., Chaos, Europhys. Lett., and Physica A. He has published a monograph titled "Empirical Research on the Topological and Dynamical Behaviors of Complex Networks" (Peking University Press, 2012), which covers four aspects of complex networks: empirical research, modeling research, dynamical behavior research, and application research.
