From August 15 to 17, 2025, the 2025 Internet of Things (IoT) Conference and the 2025 Academic Conference on Communication Theory and Technology were held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The IoT Thematic Sub - Forum - Smart Transportation, hosted by the Smart Transportation Professional Technology Group of the IoT Committee of the China Institute of Communications, took place on August 17. The forum invited leading industry experts to deliver keynote speeches, attracting nearly 1,000 offline professional participants and more than 170,000 online participants. Discussions centered on cutting - edge hot topics in the fields of IoT and communications.

At present, China has achieved a landmark breakthrough in IoT infrastructure. Billion - yuan - scale application scenarios such as industrial Internet and Internet of Vehicles are being accelerated. Solid networks, sufficient computing power, and abundant application scenarios are driving China's IoT to accelerate its transition from "interconnection of all things" to "intelligent interconnection of all things". As a key infrastructure for the digital economy, IoT is undergoing in - depth integration and innovation. The integration of technologies such as 5G and AI has injected new impetus into it, but it also faces challenges in energy consumption, standards, and security.

The conference released the top 10 development trends and top 10 technological advances (and their nominations) in the IoT field. These cover future ubiquitous sensing technology, space - air - ground - sea integrated communication networks, high - speed/broadband short - range communication, connected embodied intelligence, intelligent IoT security, integrated intelligent systems of communication, sensing, computing, and control, satellite IoT, intelligent industrial IoT systems, and medical and health IoT service systems. They provide forward - looking guidance for the innovative development of the industry.

During the same period of the conference, the Joint Working Meeting of All Members of the IoT Expert Committee of the China Electronics Society and the IoT Professional Committee of the China Institute of Communications was held. The forum was designed in close alignment with technological development trends and highlighted three major features:

  1. Focus on cutting - edge technological breakthroughs: It fully covers frontier fields such as AI integration and quantum communication.

  2. Strengthen the effectiveness of industry connection: It innovatively held the Embodied Intelligence and Robot Industry Connection Conference, covering the entire chain of sensing, algorithms, manufacturing, etc., to promote the accurate connection between the innovation chain and the industrial chain.

  3. Build a diversified communication system: The forum content covers the complete innovation chain from basic research to industrial application, including professional fields such as intelligent chips and smart healthcare.

This forum not only comprehensively demonstrated the latest technological achievements in China's IoT field but also outlined a new development prospect of in - depth integration of AI and IoT in the intelligent era. It has built a cross - domain and cross - professional communication and sharing platform for the IoT industry.
